I have been in corporate finance for 20 or so years. Over most of that time, I dealt with privately held, venture capital-backed companies as a lender and an investment banker. For the last few years, I have been the CFO of a venture-backed company. I joined before the company had any revenues and we have had a fair bit of success since then. Everybody needs a hobby though, and I have decided to adopt this one for a time.
I remain anonymous because I do not want any of my personal views to be attributed to my company. I am also going to do some stupid things along the way and then write about them. Someday, I will be looking for a job, and I don’t want to look like an idiot when I am Googled. Don’t laugh. We have turned people down for jobs at our company because their blogs revealed that they had crappy attitudes or couldn’t compose sentences. These were blogs that were actually listed on the resumes, by the way.
